MASS RACE IAAF WORLD HALF MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS REGULATIONS VALENCIA 2018
Article 1: The IAAF/Trinidad Alfonso World Half Marathon Championships Valencia 2018 Organising Committee is organising a mass race on 24th March 2018 to be held jointly with the Championship, on the same route and at the evening time.
Article 2: Everybody will be able to participate in the IAAF/Trinidad Alfonso World Half Marathon Championships Valencia 2018 mass race, an urban foot race over 21,097.50 m, whether they are federated or not, provided they comply with the conditions of the these regulations, foreign athletes who comply with RFEA and IAAF regulations will be eligible to participate, provided they are 18 years old on the day of the competition.
To avoid interference with the holding of the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, athletes with a personal best time less than 1h03:00 will not be allowed to participate. For the same reason, runners with pets, pushchairs, skates, handbikes, unauthorised bicycles or any other wheeled device are not permitted to participate, in compliance with IAAF restrictions.
Athletes in certified wheel chairs verified by FESA (the Valencian Community Adapted Sport Federation) are allowed to participate, like all other athlete participants, they must follow the organization’s special instructions, as to not interfere with the celebration of the World Championship.
In any case, the organization reserves the right to limit the registration of runners who, for reasons of any kind, could interfere in the holding of the IAAF/Trinidad Alfonso World Half Marathon Championships Valencia 2018.
The route, urban and on asphalt, is certified by AIMS/RFEA, all kilometre markers being marked with signal panels. The competition is included in the IAAF International Calendar.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This competition belongs to the Official Calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation and by registering, the runner expressly consents to their basic personal information being ceded to this entity for processing purposes with the insurance company, for mandatory accident insurance and public liability insurance, as well as for the day licence and route competition mass ranking. In any event, and as established by the Data Protection Law, the interested party can, at any time, exercise their rights to access, rectify, cancel, or object by writing or sending an email to the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation, Avenida de Valladolid nº81, 28008, Madrid. Article 3: The start will take place in three waves:
1st: the women registered in the World Championship elite competition will start at 17:05h.
2nd: At 17:30h, 25 minutos later, the men registered in the World Championship elite competition will start along with the rest of the participants (men and women) in the Mass Race with accredited times below 1h55:00.
3rd: And at 17:40h, the rest of participants in the Mass Race with times above 1h55:00 will start.
The organisation reserves the right to increase the number of starts for the Mass Race for technical or security reasons, always informing the participants in advance.
All runners who arrive at kilometre 10 after 19:10h of the third wave on 24th March 2018 are required to turn in their bib, quit the competition and/or get into the sweeper car as they will have exceeded the projected overall time limit fixed by the organisation for finishing the event. (2 hours and 30 minutes, including the lag for the three starts).
All runners who want to register with the intention of finishing the half marathon under 1h45:00 are required to provide accrediting documentation of their best time from a previous marathon, half marathon, or 10K following the qualification procedure on the registration website, or at the subsequently request of the organisation.
A cloakroom service will be available near the start/finish line, as well as portable WCs at the start of the race and at kilometres 5, 10, 15, and 20 of the race.
The cloakroom service will close at 21:00.
There will be 9 start boxes:
- World Championship bib (according to the IAAF Entry List)
- Yellow bib: sub 1h12 (men) and sub 1h20 (women)
- Green bib: sub 1h25
- Blue bib: sub 1h35
- Orange bib: sub 1h45
- Purple bib: sub 1h50
- Pink bib: sub 1h55
- Grey bib: sub 2h00
- White bib: 2h or more

The only information the organisation will take into account when making any category classifications will be that which the runner provides on his registration form.
DISABLED PERSON REGISTRATION
All disabled athletes will receive a 50% reduction on registration, taking into account all the phases and dates previously mentioned. Registration must be formalized by FESA (Valencian Community Adapted Sport Federation, their contact email is firstname.lastname@example.org, and their telephone +34 96 346 57 26. All athletes who, for any reason, do not register with FESA will not receive a reduction. Blind athletes, or those with visual deficiencies (B2), who so require will have the right to be accompanied by a guide whose registration will be 100% free and this can only be undertaken through FESA. There can only be one guide for each athlete with visual impairment.

- 25 euros for those athletes who registered for either the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Marathon or Half Marathon 2018 (Enter your ID number or Passport and date of birth to validate this promo in this link).
These prices do not include the Day License (3€ mandatory) for runners who do not have a valid national licence (RFEA), Valencian autonomous region licence (FCVA) or a Runner Plus Card.
Article 5: For legal and sporting reasons, but above for security, you may not sell or cede a bib to another runner. Given the risk involved for those people who wear a bib without the organisations knowledge and the distortion this causes in the classifications, the details of any runner who cedes or sells their bib will be written down and passed on to other marathon, half-marathon, or 10K organisations. In the case of athletes federated with the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) and with the Valencian autonomous region Athletics Federation, they will also be informed of their behaviour so that the necessary disciplinary action can be taken, if appropriate.
The organisation, also, reserves the right to preclude registration in the future and to inform other race competitions when athletes are disqualified for not completing the entire 21.097 kilometres of the route.
A 100% refund of the registration is available in case of injury or illness if a medical certificate is presented by the runner with the corresponding diagnosis sent to the following email (email@example.com before 20th March 2018, it being understood that after that date, no refund is possible. The refund will be made by bank transfer upon verification of the medical documentation presented.
It is possible to change the name on a bib/chip under the following conditions:
- The final date to be able to make the change is 1st March 2018.
- Once the runner has communicated the name change request (to firstname.lastname@example.org), they will have 7 days to complete the form the organisation sends.
- Cost: 3 euros.
If the competition is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the control of the organisation, including but not limited to unforeseen weather circumstances, decree of the municipal, regional or national authorities, explosions, acts of war, insurrection, terrorist acts or threats of terrorist acts, sabotage, epidemics, or strikes, participants will not have the right to a refund of the registration fee nor compensation for incurred losses, such as travel expenses and lodging.
Article 6: The Mass Race categories are established as follows:

35-39 YEARS OLD
40-44 YEARS OLD
45-49 YEARS OLD
50-54 YEARS OLD
55-59 YEARS OLD
60-64 YEARS OLD
65-69 YEARS OLD
70 AND OLDER
Minimum age on the day of the competition: 18 years old.
All the given age requirements must be met by the day of the competition.
A trophy will be presented to the first finishers in each category.
Article 7: Bibs and chips will be delivered only and exclusively in the RUNNER’S TRADE FAIR, at Principe Felipe Museum of the City of Arts and Sciencies. Location here.
Thrusday 22nd: from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday 23rd: from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday 24th: from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In case you are unable to collect it in person must be given to a third you must authorize to this person at the autogestion zone of registrations website.
No bibs will be handed over to those who do not meet these requirements.
There will be time controls along the route. Only those participants who run the race with the chip provided by the organisation will be included in the ranking. The chip must be placed on the back part of the bib, and the runner is obliged to check that it functions properly at the relevant stand at the Runner’s Fair.
Article 8: The bibs/chips are personal and non-transferable, and must be positioned on the chest without being manipulated or bent. The control chip is also personal and non-transferable as. Non-observance of this article could be a motive for disqualification.
The competition Judges and the Organisation reserves the right to disqualify any offender that, once any irregularity by any runner is found: does not have their bib visible, manipulates it and/or transfers it to another runner, alters the data provided to the Organisation or to the Arbitrator regarding the identity card or federative record, does not finish the course, exhibits a poor physical condition, does not facilitate the documentation required by the Organisation or breaches any other rule of the FACV, RFEA or IAAF. It is compulsory for federated athletes to compete wearing their club clothing, they may be open to sanction if this is not the case.
Runners who are disqualified will not be awarded any prizes or trophies.
Runners not registered or who run without a bib or chip will not be allowed to run in this competition, their access to the race will be prohibited and blocked in order to guarantee the rights of those who properly registered in compliance with regulations.
Article 9: The circuit will be properly indicated by kilometre.
There will be six provisioning stands approximately at kilometres 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, y 17.5, as well as at the finish.
Article 10: Health services and ambulances will be coordinated by the Organisation’s medical team and they will be located along the route, at the start and at the finish.
All runners have to fill in the back part of the bib with their name, surname, telephone number in case of emergency, any medical problems (allergies, special attention required, etc.) or any specific treatment they need and their blood group.
Article 11: The only vehicles authorised to follow the competition will be those designated by the Organisation.
It is strictly forbidden to follow runners by motorbike, bicycle, roller skates or any other wheeled vehicle. Police or stewards will remove them from the route in order to avoid accidents.
Article 12: Complaints must be made orally to the Referee, no later than 30 minutes after the results have been officially communicated. The Referee’s decision will be final.
Article 13: All runners, upon registration, declare that they know and accept these Rules and the Disclaimer and Data Protection Statement. When in doubt, the Organisation’s criteria will prevail.
The Organisation recommends that runners undergo a medical examination before the competition, all participants accepting the risks derived from the sporting activity.
Disclaimer and Data Protection Statement
By simply registering, the runner declares: “I am in optimum health to participate in the World Half Marathon Championship Mass Race. In addition, I release the Organisation, sponsors or other involved institutions from any responsibility for any accident or injury that may occur before, during and/or after the competition, renouncing from this moment on any legal action against any of the aforementioned entities.
During the event I will cooperate as much as possible with the Organisation in order to avoid personal accidents.
I also authorise the Organisation to use any pictures, videos or any other audiovisual material where I may appear for publicity purposes, accepting the publication of my name in the competition results, in the media and/or on the internet, without expecting any payment, compensation or reward in this regard.”
Article 14: In accordance with Organic Law 15/1999 on the Protection of Personal Information, dated 13th December, we inform you that all the personal data facilitated by the participants and photographs taken during the race will be stored in the Organisation’s files with the purpose of administering participation in the race, as well as for its promotion, distribution and dissemination. The owner of the data may at any time exercise their right to access, rectify, cancel, or object by writing, including (a photocopy) of their ID card, to the following address: S.D.Correcaminos, (c/Arzobispo Fabián y Fuero, 14, 46009, Valencia) or to Trinidad Alfonso Mocholí Fundación de la Comunitat Valenciana (c/ Poeta Quintana, 1 bajo, 46003, Valencia).
For notification purposes, all registered runners authorise the use of their email or mobile telephone number and any other application (such as WhatsApp, Line, Telegram) as the means of legal notification.
Likewise, and in accordance with the sporting and promotional interests, distribution and operation of the race throughout the world (the reproduction of photographs of the competition, publication of qualifying lists, etc.) in any medium (Internet, advertising, etc.) and without any time limit, all registrants expressly grant the above mentioned entities permission to reproduce their first and second name/s, their overall and general ranking, their category, their finishing time and their image.
The Organisation reserves the right to make any changes in the present regulations as they wish, and must communicate them on the competition’s website and in the information provided to each runner.
FINAL CONSIDERATION: Anything not included in the present regulations shall be governed by the General Rules of Competition from FACV, RFEA, and IAAF.
