On the 24th of March 2018, 315 athletes from 87 international federations met in Valencia — ‘The Running City’ — to take part in the IAAF/Trinidad Alfonso Half-Marathon World Championship.
For the event, the Organising Committee designed a circuit that was practically flat and without tight turns. This layout greatly helped runners attain the blazingly fast times achieved in the championship, in which a new Women’s World Record (1:06:11) was set by Gudeta Kebede in a race solely for women.
In the Men’s Race, Geoffrey Kamworor was crowned in Valencia as World Champion for the third time in a row. He ran the Half-Marathon in 1:00:02, confirming him as the world’s fastest runner over this distance.
